On his new album, “Accents,” Eicher also features some legends from Nashville’s latin music scene, Giovanni Rodriguez on electric bass and Jesus Agreda on drums, to bring to life his original music. The track titled Algo del Caribe features this trio with the acoustic mandolin leading the way with intricate melody lines and chords, supported by exciting latin grooves.

Another sound featured on the album demonstrates the mandolin as a lead voice in an acoustic jazz context, inspired by gypsy jazz icons new and old. Eicher called upon his friends, other legends in the acoustic music world to round out a gypsy quartet- namely Eli Bishop on violin, Rory Hoffman on guitar and Alec Newnam on bass. “Native Language” (2018)

Eicher released his first solo album, Native Language, in 2018. Being almost entirely original music, with the exception of the last track “Tennessee Waltz,” this debut album is the culmination of a diverse background of styles and genres, such as jazz, gypsy jazz. and latin music that brought Eicher where he is today. The title is inspired by Eicher’s journey learning Spanish starting in 2009 and thinking about music as a language that musicians develop on their instrument.

Native Language features guitarist, Jonathan Rogerson, who also produced the project, along with Patrick Atwater on bass and Bryan Brock on percussion for the majority of the tracks. Also, vocalists Lindsay Lou and Marcela Pinilla (Eicher’s wife) make appearances on tracks 2 and 5, respectively, as well as Jeff Goodkind on piano, Eli Bishop on violin, Austin Filingo on guitar, and Miguel Alvarado on alto sax each getting a track.
